PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide shift control method and device for a new and improved automated mechanical transmission system including a control logic of up-shift and down-shift. SOLUTION: This shift control method and device in the automatic transmission system prevent undesired shift, sense an operation state of the system, and discriminate that (d/dt)THL<REF. The method and the device permit a shift command based on the present THL when the above relation is satisfied, and prohibit the shift command based on the present THL when the relation is not satisfied. The starting of the shift is prohibited unless the throttle position THL achieves a substantially steady-state value (|d/dt (THL)|<REF1 0). |
