PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-forming device that can extend the service life of a light source, while maintaining proper shading correction accuracy. SOLUTION: In the image-forming device, having a shading correction function that applies shading correction to original image data read by a read section, which reads an original by applying photoelectric conversion to an optical image obtained by optical scanning of the original, through the use of white board data obtained by optical scanning of a white board by the read section, the white board data read by the read section is compared with a reference value and it is discriminated whether a width of a magnification rate of the white board data is changed over and the width of the magnification rate is changed over when the white board data is magnified, on the basis of the discrimination result, depending on whether at least the original of a read object is a color original or a black/white original or whether at least an image priority mode or a character priority mode is set.
