PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method and a manufacturing device for an image display device capable of preventing deterioration of an electron emission element caused by heat and displaying a high quality image. SOLUTION: A side wall 18 is brought into contact with a back substrate through frit glass and they are arranged so as to keep the specified position relation. The side wall and the back substrate are heated so that the temperature of a sealing part in the peripheral part of the back substrate is made higher than that of an electron emission element forming region A of the back substrate, and the side wall and the back substrate are sealed with the frit glass. The heating temperature of the electron emission element forming region in the back substrate is set lower than the heat resistant temperature of the electron emission element, and the heating temperature in the peripheral part of the back substrate is set higher than the baking temperature of the frit glass.
