PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably supply developer by preventing the delay of the supply of the developer from a supply member even in the case of applying AC superimposed bias to a developer carrier. SOLUTION: This developing device is equipped with the supply member 3 arranged to rotate in contact with the developer carrier 2 and supplying a developer layer having specified thickness to the surface of the carrier 2, and a layer forming member 4 arranged to abut on the carrier 2 and forming the thin developer layer on the carrier 2 by regulating the thickness of the developer layer. In the device, an image is formed by applying the AC superimposed bias 5 and 6 to the carrier 2 and sticking the developer to a latent image carrier 1. Then, the developer is stably supplied to the carrier 2 without causing inverted potential in a direction where the developer 8 is peeled from the carrier 2 between the member 3 and the carrier 2 by applying constant current bias 7 to supply a constant current to space between the carrier 2 and the carrier 1 by following up the bias 5 and 6 to the member 3. |
