PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the prolonging of the time after a preceding N-th photographic film is discharged from a read transporting path before the next (N+1)st photographic film 26 is transported to the read transporting path even if the path length of a film supplying path is long. SOLUTION: In an improving input machine 12, the transportation of the (N+1)st photographic film 26 from a film holder 82 is started in synchronization with the passage of the rear end of the N-th photographic film through a transportation confluent section 122 after the transportation of the N-th photographic film 26 to be read of the image at the N-th order by transporting roller pairs 56, 58 and 60 of a film carrier 46. The transportation of the (N+1)st photographic film 26 is restarted when the (N+1)st photographic film 26 is stopped in a position where the front end thereof is detected by a second film sensor 132 and the (N+1)st photographic film 26 is discharged from the transportation confluent section 122 into a film ejection path 120.
