The invention relates to an ink jet printing process and substrates, comprising applying to a substrate an ink containing a colorant by means of an ink jet printer such that the colorant, when situated on the substrate, is in contact with a water-dissipatable polyester which has been applied to the substrate other than as a component of the ink with the result that the light-fasteness of the resultant print is surprisingly improved. An ink receptive substrate comprising a sheet material coated or impregnated with water-dissipatable polyester is also described.
