<p>A network system having a high data transfer rate but a reduced power consumption. An associative memory (1) for creating the coincidence data OR information of a result of an OR operation, in which an effective state of stored data is made true for all stored data coincident with retrieval data (12), is used to perform a primary retrieval by inputting the retrieval data (12) to the associative memory (1), thereby to extract the coincidence data OR information on the coincidence data OR line. The coincidence data OR information obtained for the stored data made coincident in the primary retrieval is used as the retrieval data to perform a secondary retrieval thereby to select only a coincidence line (5) of the word coincident with the coincidence data OR information, as the retrieval result. The selected coincidence line (5) is encoded to determine an optimum memory address signal (403) thereby to obtain a destination address (405) making the shortest network connection possible, and a data portion (412) in input transfer data (408) and a target network address (411) are synthesized to create output transfer data (409).</p> |
