This invention provides indole and benzimidazole 15-lipoxygenase (15-LO) inhibitors of the formula where one of Y1 and Y2 is CH, N, or NH, and the other is R3 includes H, halo, HN2, COOH, alkyl; R4 includes halo, alkyl, and alkoxy; Z is C, CH, or NR5; R5 is H or oxycabonyl; and each X is independent ly H, alkyl, alkoxy, or halo.
