DATA TRANSFER METHOD AND APPARATUS

A method and apparatus are disclosed for transferring data between computers over a network such as the internet or an intranet and is particularly useful for updating web pages with information particularly while being viewed by a user. The method and apparatus disclosed help to reduce the amount of data that is required to be downloaded between the server and client computers and also helps to reduce the flicker which can be experienced when internet page data is refreshed.
