Method for comparing selections of two respective parties from a predetermin ed range comprising the steps of selecting a range of values, selecting at leas t one committed value (x, y) of said range by a sending party, composing a commitment message by each party, including control numbers corresponding respectively with each one value of said range, oblivious transfer by each party of its commitment message to the other party, and verification by the receiving party of said received commitment message including checking of th e presence of at least one committed value.
