The method involves checking the extensible mark-up language files for semantics and consistency. Descriptions of objects of an industrial system are generated using an interface, based on the checked XML files. The application specific files are prepared by canon-like transformation from the generated object descriptions in XML representation. The XML files are loaded into a memory, decoded, and interpreted. The generating method is terminated when an error is determined in the checked XML files.
