<p>A safe electronic settling method used even over security-vulnerable communication lines. A mobile terminal such as a mobile phone (30) with a built-in electronic camera or artificial retina chip (30a) is used to send characters displayed on a cash register (21) or a vending machine (22) to an authentication server (10) as image data. The authentication server (10) receives (202) the image data over the Internet, performs character recognition processing, authenticates a mobile terminal, and send (203), based on the authentication, commodity information and personal information to a sales control server (23) over a dedicated line.
