The mobile radio communications system has a mobile switching centre (MSC) inserted between a mobile radio network region (UTRAN) and a stationary network region (CN), used for transfer of transport and control data between the radio network region and the stationary network region. A media gateway (MGW), which allows the format of the transport data to be transmitted to be altered, is inserted between the mobile switching centre and the stationary network region. An Independent claim for a data transmission method for a mobile radio communications system is also included.
