<p>A process for the microbial production of a plural number of carotenoid compounds wherein the ratio of the carotenoid compounds thus formed is varied. The ratio of the carotenoid compounds thus formed (astaxanthin, adonixanthin, β-carotene, echinenone, canthaxanthin, zeaxanthin, β-cryptoxanthin, 3-hydroxyechinenone, adonirubin, etc.) is varied by controlling the concentration of oxygen dissolved in a liquid culture medium during the culture.</p> |
