The mobile extension (14) with at least one wheel (15) for attachment to various vehicle basic parts (10), particularly wheelchairs and bicycles for physically handicapped persons, is couplable to a steering head (13) on the vehicle basic part by means of a rapid closure. The extension for adjustment of the wheel locating point in relation to the steering axis is couplable to the steering head by adapter parts. It has a hand-operated or motor drive unit (18). The extension has a brake system, which incorporates two hydraulic or mechanical brake devices acting independently of each other on a brake disk. It can have a single large diameter wheel (15) or two wheels of average diameter.
