Medicinal compositions against Helicobacter pylori, which contain as the active ingredient a 1- hydroxy-3-methyl-quinolone derivative represented by formula (I) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt. Because of having an antibacterial effect on H. pylori, the above compound is useful in treating or preventing infection of human beings with H. pylori and infections of animals with bacteria belonging to the genus Helicobacter in relation thereto. The above compositions are useful in the prevention (including the prevention of recurrence) and treatment of peptic ulcers (gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc.), inflammations (acute or chronic gastritis or duodenitis), diseases in the upper part of the digestive tract (gastric cancer, etc.), mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma, chronic heart diseases, etc. |
