摘要 A channel estimating unit (106) estimates the maximum delay time of a delayed wave. An encoding unit (101) convolutionally encodes data by use of a constraint length adaptively determined based on the maximum delay time of the multipath estimated by the channel estimating unit (106), and then transmits the encoded data, while notifying the receiving end of the information indicative of the constraint length of the convolutional code. The receiving end obtains the received data by performing a Viterbi decoding and an equalizing at the same time by use of UDMV (153) in accordance with the constraint length notified by the transmitting end. In this way, the error correcting capability can be improved without enlarging the apparatus scale in the UDMV.
