The scooter board has a locking device to secure the steering column in the erected position, and the pivot-mounting connecting the steering column to the stepboard has a locking mechanism(80). The pivot mounting has a pair of guide plates(52,54) between which the lower end of the steering column is installed on a pivot(56). A locking pin(62) passes through the guide plates and lower end of the steering column and can be displaced approximately at right angles to the hinge plane of the steering column between a released and a locked position.
