The capillary column (2), to be filled with sorbent particles (1), is sealed with a frit (4) at least at one end. The frit has a monolithic structure, of an organic or inorganic material. The frit is polymerized directly into the capillary column. The frit can be a capillary, filled with a monolithic material e.g. silicate. The capillary column has an inner diameter of 20-200 mu m.
