The backrest (1) assembly, with a release mounting for fitting at the seat (18) of a bench, has supports (2) and a backrest panel (2) with or without seat cushions (16). At least the backrest panel (9) is secured to part of the support (2) in a release fitting. The backrest has a space to stow the supports when not in use.
