The tool for the removal of metal from a workpiece to give an uneven surface, especially for a valve seat, has at least one blade plate (7) in a holder (9) as a base body (3), with a part-tool (51) which is mounted against the body (3). An operating mechanism (15) is coupled (13) to the holder (9). The coupling (13) has an eccentric (17) which is moved by the operating mechanism (15) to rotate round an axis (19) offset from the center axis (21) of the tool (1).
