The invention relates to a procedure for determining control/regulation values for a process in a motor vehicle, in particular for a combustion, gear shifting or braking process. The procedure functions with the aid of a characteristic field (map) which is spanned by operating variables of the process and is represented by interpolation points with associated characteristic field values. In a control cycle, at least one characteristic field value is determined from the characteristic field for an operating point of the process, by firstly determining the interval (location) between adjacent interpolation points in which the operating point is located, and then performing an interpolation between those points. To reduce the computation time, a search algorithm which employs the interval determined in the preceding control cycle as starting point is used to determine the interval.
|
