A sealed battery has a wound electrochemical assembly and a pressure safety device. The safety device has a system (12,13) which allows gas escape from the casing (2) when the internal pressure rises and which cooperates with a holder (18) for the assembly within the casing, the holder creating a gas circulation space (20) between the assembly (4) and the internal wall of the casing.
