摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor where a sintered main body is small in external dimension difference between its edges by a method wherein the main body is so molded that it is smaller in molding density at its lower edge face which comes into contact with a burning chamber than at upper edge face and installed in time burning vessel bringing its lower edge face into contact with the base of the burning chamber. SOLUTION: A voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor is formed through such a manner that material composed of a main component and auxiliary components of various metal oxides is mixed together, granulated, and molded into a main body, and the molded main body is introduced onto the floor of a bottomed burning chamber and burned into a sintered body, wherein the molded main body is set smaller in molding density at its lower edge face which comes into contact with the bottom of the burning chamber than at its upper edge face. Zinc oxide is used as a main component, and bismuth oxide, cobalt oxide, manganese oxide, antimony oxide, chrome oxide, nickel oxide, and silicon oxide are used as auxiliary components, and the lower edge face of the molded body is set lower in density than the upper edge face by 0.1 to 0.2g/cm<3> . A voltage-dependent nonlinear resistor composed of the laminated resistors obtained through the above method is excellent in surge-resistant properties.</p>
