<p>PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for automatically, efficiently loading a U-shaped bundle of fibers into a cylindrical case by a method wherein a hindrance to the loading of the bundle of fibers due to an edge of a sheet-shaped item which squeezes the diameter of the bundle of fibers radially inwardly from the outer periphery of the bundle to an extent such that the diameter of the bundle becomes less than the inner diameter of the case can collapse of single fibers at the head of U-shaped bundle can be avoided. CONSTITUTION: A bundle of fibers W is covered with a thin material K in such a manner that U-shaped portions of bundle of fibers W are bundled so as to leave the opposite ends of U-shaped end portions and under such conditions, the bundle of fibers W is inserted into a sheet-shaped item 2a formed into a cylindrical shape beforehand. By squeezing the item 2a together with the bundle W to make smaller the diameter of the bundle W, the bundles W, in a squeezed state, is caused to slide forwardly, being guided by the inner surface of the item 2a, so as to be pushed into the case and loaded thereinto and thereafter the material K covering the bundle W is pulled out.</p> |
