The invention relates to color- and/or effect-imparting single- or multi-layer coatings for unprimed iron-based metal substrates, which are produced by (1) applying a powder coat dispersion (powder slurry) that contains at least one hydrophilic color- and/or effect-imparting pigment directly to the unprimed metal substrate, thereby obtaining a powder slurry layer; (2) curing said powder slurry layer, thereby obtaining the color- and/or effect-imparting single-layer coating; or alternatively (4) venting or drying the powder slurry layer without completely cross-linking it; (5) applying at least one clearcoat to the powder slurry layer or alternatively to the single-layer coating, and then (6) curing the powder slurry layer and the clearcoat layer(s) together, or alternatively curing the clearcoat layer alone, thereby obtaining a color- and/or effect-imparting multi-layer coating (I); or alternatively, (7) coating the color- and/or effect-imparting single-layer coating (I) with at least one further powder slurry that contains at least one hydrophilic color- and/or effect-imparting pigment, and then curing the powder slurry layer(s), thereby obtaining the color- and/or effect-imparting multi-layer coating (II). |
