The present invention refers to a detection device for a milking arrangement for milking an animal. The milking arrangement includes a milking device (6, 7), which have at least one teatcup (7), which has a longitudinal axis (f) and which is able to have a desired orientation and an undesired orientation. The detection device includes at least one sensor (25, 26), arranged to sense the value of a parameter related to said orientations of the teatcup (7), and a first communication unit (24) for wireless transmission of said value to a second communication unit (27), which comprises a processor (28) arranged to process said value in order to establish which of said orientations the teatcup (7) has and which is arranged to perform an action if said teatcup has said undesired orientation.
