SOLUTION: This semiconductor optical integrated circuit 1 wherein various kinds of optical elements are integrated using a semiconductor crystal as a substrate 2 has ferromagnetic metals 3a, 3b bonded to the substrate 2, and optical waveguides 4 (4a, 4b) formed in the substrate 2 so that they pass through a magnetically effective range of the ferromagnetic metals 3a, 3b.
