712,263. Torsional-vibration dampers. KING, H. A., [trading as KING CO., H. A.]. Jan. 28, 1952 [Feb. 3, 1951], No. 2256/52. Class 108(3) - In a torsion-vibration damper comprising a rubber body 35 disposed under pressure between radial and opposed annular faces of a hub member 9 and an inertia member 23, the opposed radial faces of the two members converge in a direction of increasing radius. As shown, the annular faces of the member 9 are supplemented by a clamping disc 41. The external diameter of the disc 41 at 53 is greater than the internal diameter of the rubber body 35. The axial width of the rubber body 35 is greater than the axial length of the disc 41. The rubber body 35 has an inwardly projecting rim 47. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the portions 51 and 53 of the disc are provided by a stepped formation of the hub 3. The outer radial face of the rubber body 35 is closed by a dished disc which is bolted to the shaft 1 and secured against rotation by pegs. The inner radially-opposed faces of the inertia member 23 may be inwardly convergent, Fig. 5 (not shown). |
