PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent ignition of a substance to be heated due to the increase of the temperature of a heating chamber. SOLUTION: This overheating preventing device comprises a heating chamber 1 to contain a substance 4 to be heated, a gas burner 2 to heat and cook the substance, a drip bowl 3 taken in and out from the heating chamber 1 with the substance being placed thereon, a temperature sensor 6 fixed at the heating chamber 1, a gas regulation part 8 to regulate a gas amount to the gas burner 2, and a control part 7 to receive an output from the temperature sensor 6 and control the gas regulating part 8. This constitution enables setting of a gas shut-off time by an initial temperature in the heating chamber at the time of starting of cooking and prevention of ignition of the substance.
