PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse a part, including a charge generating layer and layers beneath of a photoreceptor, having a protective layer containing fine particles, which impart wear resistance, and to prevent the fine particles which impart wear resistance from being mixed into the regenerated photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The method for regenerating an electrophotographic photoreceptor is used to regenerate a photoreceptor having at least a charge- generating layer, a charge transfer layer and a protective layer containing fine particles to impart wear resistance which are successively deposited on a conductive substrate. In the method, the photoreceptor is regenerated, by separating the charge transfer layer and the protective layer and then again forming a charge transfer layer and a protective layer.
