PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem engine type image forming device capable of securing image quality or improving productivity in compliance with user's need. SOLUTION: In this image forming unit, plural image forming units 1 (for example, 1a to 1d) are disposed in parallel along an intermediate transfer body 2 or the moving path of recording material 3, and each image forming unit 1 is equipped with an image carrier 4 carrying each color component image, then each color component image formed on the image carrier 4 of the image forming unit 1 is transferred to the recording material 3 directly or through the intermediate transfer body 2. In an image quality priority mode, image- forming is performed to satisfy relation Pc=n.S (n: integer or 1/integer) when it is assumed that the peripheral length of the image carrier 4 of the image forming unit 1 is S and the image-forming pitch of the image G is Pc, and in a productivity priority mode, image-forming is performed to satisfy relation Pm<Pc when it is assumed that the image-forming pitch of the image G is Pm. |
