PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymeric fluorescent substance that can reveal excellent light emission efficiency, when it is used in light emission layers of polymeric LED, as it retains proper solubility and film-forming properties, a method of producing the polymeric fluorescent substance via reduced process steps, and a polymeric LED using the same. SOLUTION: The objective polymeric fluorescent substance emits fluorescence, has a number-average molecular weight of 103-108 calculated as polystyrene, bears one or more of the recurring units represented by the following formula (1) (Ar1 is an arylene group or the like; R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl or the like; n is 0 or 1) and the recurring units working as a branching point where the proportion of the branching recurring units is 0.1-10 mol.% based on the total of the formula (1) recurring units and the branching recurring units and the main chains branch every the branching point. This invention further provides methods of producing the same and polymeric light emission elements using the polymeric fluorescent substance. Formula (1)-Ar1-(-CR1= CR2-)n-.
