PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that can easily manage each image file even when the number of recorded image files increases. SOLUTION: Folders to manage image files are created in a magneto-optical disk 40. When the magneto-optical disk 40 is loaded to a slot 39 and an information retrieval mode is selected, a CPU 32 detects each folder number of the folders created in the magneto-optical disk 40 and a character generator 36 displays the detected folder number respectively on a monitor 30. When any of the folder numbers displayed on the monitor 30 is selected, the CPU 32 detects the number of image files managed by the folder with the selected folder number. The character generator 36 displays the detected file number on the monitor 30. Thus, the number of image files that are stored in each folder can easily be grasped.
