PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the entire functions of a conventional disk (data storage section) common share video server system stop on the occurrence of a fault in a master server which unifiedly reads/writes file information and that system cannot have been employed for a system where high reliability is a requirement such as a system for broadcast stations. SOLUTION: Video servers in the disk common share video server system are classified into a master video server (master), slave video servers (slaves) that request the master on information management, and a secondary video server (secondary that one of the slaves takes over the information management on the occurrence of a fault in the master. The master and the secondary periodically make communication with each other, and when the secondary receives no message from the master within a prescribed time, the secondary takes over the information management from the master and informs the slaves about the alternation of the master.
