PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel in which quality of displayed picture image can be improved by preventing an erroneous discharge. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel wherein plural row electrode pairs (X, Y) are installed and a protective layer 12 is formed at a front face glass substrate 10, and wherein plural column electrodes D constituting respective discharge cells C in discharge spaces S of intersecting part with row electrode pairs (X, Y) are installed at a rear face glass substrate 13, at a position facing the discharge cell C between the front face glass substrate 10 and the rear face glass substrate 13, ultraviolet region luminous layers 17 are formed to have an afterglow property which continues to emit ultraviolet rays by being excited by ultraviolet rays having wave length not less than 0.1 msec.
