PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photosensitive material which improves fastness and stain of a color image, the fog and contrast lowering of an emulsion, the preservability of a latent image and color-forming property after storage and is superior in color developing property. SOLUTION: The silver halide photosensitive material contains a non-color developing compound of formula (I) [where L is a group of formula represented by (II), (III) or (IV)]. In the formula (II), R1-R4 are each H or a 1-10C unsubstituted alkyl but the total number of carbon atoms in R1-R4 is 5 or larger. In the formula (III), R5-10 are each H or a 1-10C unstubstitued alkyl but the total number of carbon atoms in R5-R10 is 6 or larger. In the formula (IV), R11-R18 are each H or a 1-10C unsubstituted alkyl.
