摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device capable of improving the fine- atomization and the combustibility of fuel. SOLUTION: This fuel injection device is provided with a fuel swirling structure 8, a valve seat 9 having a fuel injection port 91, an annular fuel swirling chamber 89 formed between the fuel swirling structure 8 and the valve seat 9 and communicated with plural swirl grooves 85 and the fuel injection port 91, and a valve element 7 separated and brought in contact from/with the valve seat 9 with reciprocation thereof inside of the fuel swirling structure 8 in the axial direction so as to open and close a communication passage between the fuel swirling chamber 89 and the fuel injection port 91. In this fuel injection device, assuming the minimum open area as S1 between the valve element 7 and the valve seat 9 when the communication passage is fully opened, a cross sectional area as S2 crossing the axis of the fuel injection port and the mean cross sectional area of the fuel flow inside of the fuel injection port 91 as S3, the stroke of slide of the valve element 7 is set so that the minimum open area S1 satisfies the following relation: S3<S1<S2.
