PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monoazo compound or its salt useful for dyeing cellulose fibers orange or scarlet. SOLUTION: A monoazo compound of formula (I) [wherein n is 0 or 1; R1 is an optionally substituted alkyl or hydrogen; X is formula (X1), formula (X2), -C-R4 or -C-R5 (wherein R2-R5 are each hydrogen, an optionally substituted alkyl, cyclohexyl, phenyl or naphthyl; and Q is -CH2-, -O-, -S-, -SO2- or -NR6-; R6 is hydrogen or an optionally substituted alkyl; and u is 1-3); and Y is an optionally substituted pyridinio] or its salt is provided.
