PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antistatic agent capable of exhibiting excellent antistatic effect both on a polyolefin resin and a polystyrene resin in order to solve the problem that, since an antistatic agent being used for a polyolefin resin is poor in the antistatic effect against a polystyrene resin, and an amine compound being used for a polystyrene resin is poor in the antistatic effect against a polyolefin resin, conventionally a different antistatic agent must be prepared for a polyolefin resin and a polystyrene resin, respectively. SOLUTION: The antistatic agent contains (A) a reaction product of 1,2- epoxyalkane with monoethanolamine and (B) a 8-22C higher fatty acid in a mole ratio of (A) : (B)=1:0.1 to 1:0.7.
