PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photosensitive material having high sensitivity, is nearly free of residual colors, after processing and ensuring a small change in photographic properties after continuous processing. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material contains a methine dye of formula (I) (wherein Y is a group of atoms for forming a 5- or 6-membered unsaturated heterocycle which may be condensed with another 5- or 6-membered carbon ring or heterocycle; Z is a group of atoms for forming a 5- or 6-membered N-containing heterocycle which may be condensed with another 5- or 6-membered carbon ring or heterocycle; R is optionally substituted alkyl, optionally substituted aryl or an optionally substituted heterocyclic group; D is a group required for forming the methine dye; L1 and L2 are each a methine; (p) is 0 or 1; M is a counter ion; and (m) is a number 0 or larger required for neutralizing electric charges in each molecule) and a specified pyrazoloazole type magenta coupler or a specified pyrrolotriazole type cyan coupler.
