<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password inputting device and method for protecting the information or property of a user by providing a mechanism for preventing a password set by a user from being associated with the individual information of the user. SOLUTION: This device is provided with: a plurality of buttons 11, 12, 13, and 14 for inputting a password; a decoder 16 for detecting a signal indicating that buttons 11, 12, 13, and 14 are depressed, converting the signal into an electric signal and transmitting the electric signal to an authenticating device 18; and a shielding case 15 for preventing the inputting procedure of a password from being peeked into by a third person when the user inputs the password. In this case, the shielding case 15 for totally covering the movement of the user's fingers is arranged at the upper part of the buttons 11, 12, 13, and 14, and the buttons 11, 12, 13, and 14 are arranged at prescribed positions with which any specific number or alphabet can be made difficult to be associated so that the inputted password can be prevented from recognized by a third person according to the movement of the user's fingers when the user inputs the password.</p> |
