PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power saving-type device for monitoring an aerial power transmission line that requires no commercial power. SOLUTION: Inside the aerial power transmission line monitoring device comprising the main part of the monitoring device which consists of a sensor and measured data processing part, for example, a power supply system of solar cells and storage batteries for the main part, and a communicating means of a mobile phone or PHS, a circuit that detects an incoming message by the communicating means is provided. A switch circuit whose contact is closed by the contact signals outputted from the message detecting circuit is provided in the power supply system. Thus, the incoming message of the communicating means works as a starting trigger of the device, and polling for the demand of data from the central monitoring side starts the system to perform data transmission. Specifically, the detecting circuit is the one for detecting light emitted by the communicating means upon receiving the data, while the switch circuit is a power supply relay circuit. The power supply of the solar cells and storage batteries normally operates the communicating means, the detecting circuit, and the switch circuit, i.e. the power supply relay circuit. |
