PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid display device with the small occupying area. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device which has a liquid crystal display element having a cell composed of a lower transparent substrate and an upper transparent substrate for housing liquid crystal and having an electrode pattern connected with a semiconductor integrated circuit chip at least on one surface of the lower transparent substrate and the upper transparent substrate, and has a flexible connecting member electrically connected to a control circuit to control the electrode pattern of the liquid crystal display element and the liquid crystal display element, a through hole is formed in the lower transparent substrate or the upper transparent substrate, the flexible connecting member is disposed so as to face the underface of the lower transparent substrate, and the flexible connecting member is connected to the electrode pattern through the through hole.
