PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce an optical fiber bundle which is excellent in alignment property of optical fibers in the incident end face and is excellent in light transmission characteristic. SOLUTION: This method for producing an optical fiber bundle comprises the process in which the optical fiber bundle, which is made by plurally bundling the optical fibers which expand in a radial direction by heating, is packed into a hollow part of a welded jig 5 having the hollow part of rectangular cross-section and the process in which the optical fibers are welded one another by heating the optical fibers in the hollow part.
