PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture data collating method for maintaining the precision of collation in spite of data on a picture which is not clear sufficiently. SOLUTION: A definition part 3 defines plural areas in the first picture data 1a in the collation of the picture data. As for each of the plural areas defined by the part 3, an extraction part 4 extracts a maximum correlation area being an area having the maximum correlation with the area from the second picture data 1b. Since the area defined by the part 3 and the maximum correlation area extracted by the part 4 in accordance with the area have the maximum correlation literally, it is possible to estimate that pictures included in both of the areas have the same feature figure. A judging part 5 respectively investigates a positional relation mutually between the plural areas defined by the part 3 and a positional relation mutually between the maximum correlation areas extracted by the part 4, judges the degree of the similarity of both of the picture data based on the difference of the positional relation between both of them and outputs the result of judgment 2. |
