PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking mechanism which makes locking and unlocking operation carried out by utilizing a motor. SOLUTION: This locking mechanism 1 has a locking lever 8 which is pivotally supported and has a hook part 9 at the front end on a post part 4 side, a sliding lever 12 which is pushed in by the post part 4 against the energizing force of a spring 14 in locking in an advance and retreat direction X and is jumped out by the energizing force of the spring 14 in unlocking, an oscillation piece 5 which extends sideways form the base end of the locking lever 8, a rotary member 20 which exists alongside the sliding lever 12 and has a cam part 21 turned to abut the oscillation piece 5, a motor 23 which rotates the rotary member 20 in one direction, a part 24 to be detained which is disposed integrally with the rotary member 20 and rotates in follow up to the cam part 21 and a detaining part 16 which is integrally disposed at the sliding lever 12, advances and retreats, exists to attain the state abutting the part 24 to be detained of the rotary member 20 in unlocking and exists to attain the state not abutting the part 24 to be detained of the rotary member 20 in locking.
