PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave device which can be readily manufactured in a small size like a surface acoustic wave element. SOLUTION: The surface acoustic wave device, which is formed by jointing two surface acoustic wave elements each having an exciting electrode on a piezoelectric substrate, while the piezoelectric substrate surfaces having the exciting electrodes formed thereon are opposed to each other, is characterized in that one of the piezoelectric substrates has the exciting electrode surface being larger than that of the other piezoelectric substrate, and a frame having an electrode formed thereon is disposed on an outer edge of one of the piezoelectric substrate to input and output a signal via the frame.
