PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device which reduces downtime caused by jamming. SOLUTION: An electrifying means 3 is controlled by a control means 16 thereby electrifying an image carrier 1 so that its surface potential has a constant value. Also, a post-exposure device 10 is controlled to carry out post- exposure thereby decreasing the surface potential of the image carrier 1 before a toner image is transferred to a sheet. Further, the control means 16 controls the electrifying means 3 and the post-exposure device 10 so that the surface potential of the photoreceptor 1 has a required value, then post exposure is carried out. A re-post-exposed area of the image carrier 1 is re-electrified under fixed conditions, then the surface potential immediately after the re- electrification is measured to judge the life of the post-exposure device 10. |
