PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone set, in which the function contents of keys are displayed as picture patterns on a display part and a function can be used with one action by operating a key switch corresponding to a picture pattern position thereof while a conventional telephone system has the problems of difficulty in comprehension and low operability since the function contents of plural keys are displayed on the display part as a list of characters. SOLUTION: In this telephone set, function contents and picture patterns are stored in a function storage part (ST) 11 of a RAM 7 in correspondence with key switches and an icon, which is a stored picture pattern, is displayed on a display part 2 in correspondence with the position of the key. When any key is inputted by a key input part 9, function contents corresponding to that key are retrieved from the function storage part (ST) 11 and the retrieved function is executed.
